Privacy policy
This policy explains what the Harrigan Home app collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
Who we are
Harrigan Home operates the Harrigan Home app at app.harriganhome.com, a home-goods deals and loyalty service for shoppers in Barbados. In this policy, "we", "us", and "the app" mean Harrigan Home as the party responsible for your information. If you have questions, contact us at privacy@harriganhome.com.
Information we collect
We collect the information you give us and the information created as you use the app.
- Account information. Your email address, display name, and the sign-in method you use. We use a passwordless email link or a password to authenticate you.
- Demographic information. Optional profile details you may provide during onboarding, such as age band, gender, parish, home status, household information, and shopping interests. You can use the app without completing these, and you can change or remove them later.
- Receipt images. Photos of receipts you upload to earn points or verify a purchase, along with the details we read from them (such as store, date, and total).
- Activity and loyalty data. Store check-ins, coupon claims and redemptions, points earned and spent, reward redemptions, challenge progress, and Home Goods Tour participation.
- Device and technical data. Basic device and app information, and, if you allow notifications, a push notification token so we can send alerts to your device.
How we use your information
- Run your account and the loyalty program, including awarding and spending points, issuing coupons, and tracking rewards.
- Read and verify the receipts you submit so points and offers are applied correctly and fairly.
- Personalise the deals, stores, and challenges we show you based on your parish and interests.
- Send the notifications you opt into, such as new deals, coupon reminders, and Home Goods Tour updates, by email or push.
- Keep the service safe, prevent fraud and abuse of points or coupons, and troubleshoot problems.
- Produce aggregated, de-identified insights for partner stores. These never identify you personally.
Legal basis and consent
Where the law requires a legal basis to process your information, we rely on the following. We handle personal data consistent with the Barbados Data Protection Act.
- Consent. For optional demographic details, receipt image processing, and marketing notifications. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Performance of a contract. To create your account and run the loyalty features you ask for.
- Legitimate interests. To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and improve the app, balanced against your rights.
Receipt image processing
When you upload a receipt, the image is stored securely and processed by an automated vision service (Google Gemini) to read text such as the store, date, and amount so we can validate the submission and award points. We use this only to operate the loyalty features. We do not use your receipts to build advertising profiles.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the app, and only as needed:
- Supabase. Database, authentication, and secure storage of your account data and receipt images.
- Vercel. Hosting and delivery of the application.
- Google (Gemini). Automated reading of the receipt images you submit.
- Email and push providers. Delivery of sign-in links and the notifications you opt into.
- Partner stores.Mostly aggregated, de-identified insights, plus the confirmations needed to honour a coupon or reward you choose to redeem in store. Two things are identified, and both follow from something you chose to do. If you join a store's mailing list, that store can see and export your name, the email address on your account, and the date you joined, so they can send you what you asked for; you can leave from Stores you followin your account settings, and they lose access the moment you do. And during a tour, a stop's host sees the display name and picture of members who check in or scan a receipt there, so they can tell who is standing in front of them; turning off leaderboard visibility in your settings hides you from that too. No store ever sees another store's list, and we never hand over the contact details of members who have not joined.
- Legal and safety. Where we must comply with the law, or to protect the rights and safety of users and the public.
How long we keep your information
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. Receipt images are retained only as long as needed to verify a submission and support the points it earned, and are then removed on a routine schedule. When you delete your account, we remove your profile and the related data as described in the section on your rights.
Your rights and choices
Subject to applicable law, you have the following rights over your information. To exercise any of them, contact privacy@harriganhome.com, and we will respond within a reasonable time.
- Access. Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you (a data subject access request, or DSAR).
- Correction. Fix profile details that are wrong or out of date. You can edit most of these in the app.
- Deletion. Delete your account and the related data from within the app under Settings, or by contacting us. This removes your profile, receipt images, check-ins, points, coupons, rewards, challenge and tour progress, and push tokens.
- Withdraw consent. Turn off marketing notifications or withdraw consent for optional data at any time.
- Portability and objection. Ask for your data in a portable format, or object to certain processing.
Children
The Harrigan Home app is intended for adults. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact privacy@harriganhome.com and we will remove it.
How we protect your information
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security on our database. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep your information safe.
International transfers
Our service providers may store or process data on servers outside Barbados. Where that happens, we take steps intended to keep your data protected to a standard consistent with this policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
